This week's big achievements were the insulation of the exterior walls, and a second thing that I'll fill you in on in a minute, after a few pictures:
Those pics are all pre-insulation. Once the insulation went in, you could start to see the space a little differently, especially the giant west wall of the living room in the early morning, with the sunlight coming in through the high east windows:
I've become fascinated by the early morning light on the East side of the house. The sun has been coming up at around 6:45-ish, and since we're right about to hit the Autumnal Equinox, the sun is almost exactly due East when it comes up. Thus, it hits the East-facing wall with a very flat light, and barely grazes across the North- and South- facing walls.
But almost immediately after it comes up, it the sun starts arcing to the South in the sky, and the shadows are thrown to the North. This has been a lot of fun to observe.
Finally, I am thrilled to report that the roof got finished on the sunroom! Well, not totally, finally finished, but at least it's dry.

Thus, you can now stargaze all you want, without fear of spilling your cocktail and messing up the floor in the room below.
Cheers!
I have to say I am kind of shocked at how fast you have managed to do this project. Very impressive.
ReplyDeleteLooking good.
